hand injuries and other upper limb orthopaedic conditions

  • Rehabilitation for sport hand injuries – mallet finger, boutonniere or swan neck deformity, joint dislocations, ligament injuries, elbow reconstructions, tennis elbow, golfers elbow, frozen shoulder, etc.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis and other auto-immune disease rehabilitation
  • Repetitive strain injuries and other work overuse related and conditions that cause pain and inflammation (Carpal tunnel syndrome, DeQuervains tenosynovitis, tennis elbow, ulnar nerve entrapment, double crush syndrome, etc)
  • Rehabilitation and splinting after Fractures of the fingers, wrist, elbow and shoulder
  • Burn wounds and other scars – pressure garments (arms, legs, trunk, pelvic region and face)
  • Nerve injuries such as brachial plexus injuries and paralysis due to nerve damage
  • Congenital conditions that requires rehabilitation after surgery
  • Traumatic amputations of the upper limb

  • Custom made splints for all conditions including: Finger splint, Wrist extension splint, thumb spica splint, relative motion splint, ulnar deviation splint, resting splint, aeroplane splint, elbow extension splint, static and dynamic splint, etc.

  • Pain and stiffness related to abnormal and awkward postures during child rearing in the shoulders and neck
  • Coping mechanisms and time management skills

  • Sensory stimulation (Not Sensory Integration – Contact for referral to SI therapist) 
  • Developmental assessments and treatment for all major milestones
  • Children born with or diagnosed with: Congenital deformities e.g. Syndactyly ; Spina bifida; Hydrocephalus; Muscular dystrophy; Cerebral palsy; Etc. 
  • Stimulation and activity recommendation for children that has difficulty reaching milestones within recommended time frame
  • Rehabilitation after a severe traumatic accident causing physical disabilities.
  • Hand Therapy for children: Strengthening for hand muscles to improve writing or as per hand therapy section
  • Assistive devices and recommendations for all activities of daily living

why do i need occupational
therapy?

Occupational Therapy is focused at improving the holistic human being due to any physical, cognitive or mental limitation.

Occupational therapy sessions will provide you with tools to adapt your environment or tools, maintain your current functioning and improve your functional ability and skills in all areas/ occupations.

what can i expect in an occupational therapy session?

An Occupational therapy session consists of assessment of current level of function and performance in various tasks.

The occupational therapist can hereby identify problem areas and possible causes for the specific difficulties and use clinical reasoning and evidence based practice to provide solutions and a treatment plan that aims to improve the patient’s individual goals as well as therapeutic goals.

Therapeutic intervention includes but isn’t limited to therapeutic exercises, functional activities, evidence based techniques, adaptations (splints, assistive devices, home environment, etc) and home programs.
